I know you have a slightly newer S60R (around 05??) But I need to ask
I might be getting a 2000 V70R this weekend for like $1600. 130,000 miles on it, what do you think?

Yeah, it's a 2007 - the last year of the R.
That's a damn good price for a VR if all is well. Make sure it's still AWD and has a good service history. Granted, it will probably need work being 14 y/o, but it should be good. Is there a listing?

Price sounds exceptional. I'd take it for a spin, feel for any clunks going on with the transmission...if so, it's a big, big red flag. I know sellphones mentioned below about the AWD, but I'd still consider one that has been converted over to FWD.

For $1,800 thats not bad at all. I don't have a whole lot of knowledge on these things, but I cant tell you that is has had some bodywork from the pics. The front bumper is off a base model V70/S70 - it does not have the wipers built in for the extended lip - and it's white!
Is it a private seller?

Yeah I went and drove it the other day. When he got it like 4 years ago it had the proper bumper. But because of the lower lip it was always getting caught on things and after 14 years it was pretty beat up. The final straw was when he hit a shopping cart and it cracked the base. So he went to the pick n pull and that was all they had. Its also where he got the two spares from, they are base v70 rims and tires.
Friend ran a carfax and it was clean though and El_Uly checked and proved it was a real R.
Yeah its a private seller. Hes been trying to sell for over a month but he has the car posted in the wrong city and its a month old ad now. Unless you specifically type in V70R you wont find it.
It drove really nice though. Tons of pickup and no weird sounds or rattles.

The new cam and crank seals are a big deal. They tend to go bad if the crankcase breather system is neglected, and the crank seals are engine-out job to replace, so the fact that they've been done is a big plus. My 850R has an occasional oil leak as a result of this, but I really don't feel like taking the engine out to deal with it. That mileage is barely run-in by the standards of those engines - mine is still going strong at 213,000.
I'd totally buy it at that price – it looks in much better shape than my 850R, as well as being 4 years newer and much lower mileage.

thank you for elaborating on that. I honestly thought it was nothing, like a 5 minute job. So that makes me feel better about the previous owner. Its a 2 owner car.the first sold it for a 2011 V70R and this guys had it a few years.
I'm trying to get it still. Just trying to convince parents.

I guess you can look at it in two ways – for the seals to have needed replacing, somebody in its past must have neglected it a bit, but on the other hand, the previous owner cared enough to either pay a lot of money to have them done, or spent a not-insignificant amount of time and effort doing it themself. I must correct myself slightly – at least on the 850, you don't have to remove the engine – you can instead just remove the transaxle and leave the engine in place, but people have different opinions as to which is easier.
I've said it before, but I really like my 850R – the early V70Rs such as the one you're looking at are almost the same car, just with AWD and a different transmission. They're not entirely trouble-free, but on the whole, they're well-built, DIY-friendly, and a decent amount of fun to drive.
For $1600, that's a fantastic deal, too. As much as I love my 850R, having AWD would be a big plus, and if I weren't on the other side of the country, I'd go for it myself!
